August 2007: New Feature: Event Reviews
American Quarterly is seeking essays for a new regular feature on live performance (art, dance, music), public events (demonstrations, protests, street fairs, speeches, political rallies), gallery and museum exhibitions (and supporting programming), festivals (film, theater, etc.), and various media events (in music, film, television, new media). These essays should expand the format of traditional reviews to both explore ephemeral articulations of U.S. culture and society and speak to the larger context within which such events appear. Submissions should be 4,000 to 8,000 words and may include illustrations. Please direct all submissions and correspondence to Jennifer Doyle, jennifer.doyle@ucr.edu. For more detailed guidelines, see the AQ Web site, http://www.americanquarterly.org/index.php/about/exhibition_reviews.
