Judith Jackson Fossett is Associate Professor of English and American Studies and Ethnicity at the University of Southern California. Her teaching and research interests include 19th & 20th century American literature, history, and culture and African-American Literature; culture of New World slavery and the Americas; literature and culture of the American south; critical theory; and minority discourse. She is co-editor of Race Consciousness: African-American Studies for the New Century and author of numerous articles, including "The Civil War Imaginations of Thomas Dixon and Charles Chesnutt; or, North Carolina, ‘This Strange World of Poisoned Air.’"
